LiveWire features meaningful discussions with local and national experts about vital issues impacting our region and its people.





Speakers

 

Ray Conner  

President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, Conner is responsible for delivering on a record backlog and overseeing the growth of airplane programs and services. A Washington native, Conner joined Boeing in 1977. China’s market for commercial airplanes has significant implications for our local economy.

 

Nelson Dong  

Seattle-based partner in the law firm of Dorsey & Whitney LLP and co-head of its Asian Law Practice Group. Dong is a member of the President’s Export Council Subcommittee on Export Administration and a director of the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations.

 

Jimmy Hexter  

Former Chair of McKinsey & Company’s Beijing office and Senior Partner and Head of the Operating Team at Catterton Partners, Hexter spent more than 20 years in Asia and served as a board member for the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations.

 

Gary Locke  

U.S. Ambassador to China from 2011 to 2014, Locke also served as U.S. Secretary of Commerce and served two terms as Governor of Washington, during which time the state’s exports to China more than doubled to over $5 billion per year.

 

Brad Smith  

Microsoft’s general counsel and executive vice president, Smith leads the company’s Legal and Corporate Affairs Group, which has more than 1,000 employees in 55 countries. Microsoft has extensive operations in China and is introducing new cloud technologies in mainland China.

 

Michael Young  

President of the University of Washington, home of the Jackson School of International Studies, Young joined the UW in 2011, and has expertise in international law, human rights, international religious freedom, trade and the environment.
